IAWM is an international membership organization of women and men dedicated to fostering and encouraging the activities of women in music, particularly in the areas of musical activity such as composing, performing, and research in which gender discrimination is an historic and ongoing concern.
These databases are managed by the Music Division; the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division; and the American Folklife Center. They are stand-alone resources that are not integrated with the rest of the Library’s digital collections or catalogs. In many cases, the databases do not reflect actual holdings of the Library of Congress and are provided only as reference resources.

They include jukeboxes and synthesizers, square-dancing outfits and sheet music, archival materials, oral histories, and recordings of performances at the Museum. Particular notable are the Sam DeVincent Collection of Illustrated Sheet Music and the Duke Ellington and Ruth Ellington Boatwright collections that contain handwritten music compositions, sound recordings, business records, and other materials documenting Ellington's career.
